Water & Wastewater
Water and Wastewater Services Overview
In the Niagara Peninsula, the provision of water and wastewater services is a shared responsibility between the two tiers of municipal government. Briefly put, the Regional Municipality of Niagara is responsible for operating the plants that treat both raw water for drinking and wastewater for discharge to the natural environment. The local municipalities are in turn, responsible operating the network of pipes that distribute clean water to consumers and the sewers, that collect effluent for homes and business.
