Lincoln firefighters recognized with federal award

Lincoln, ON – (July 22, 2019) – Three of Lincoln Fire Rescue’s firefighters are being recognized for 30 years of dedicated service to the community. Chief Greg Hudson, Captain Brian Cook, and District Chief Brian Culp are being presented with the Fire Services Exemplary Service Bar on behalf of the Governor General.

A medal is given to fire service members after 20 years of exemplary service, while a silver bar is awarded for each additional 10 years served. They will be presented with the award at the Town of Lincoln’s Council meeting on Monday, July 22, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.

“We are pleased to recognize and commend these devoted members of our fire service for their many years of outstanding efficiency, conduct and contributions to the public safety of Lincoln and its residents.” said CAO Michael Kirkopolous.

The bar is administered by the Chancellery of Canadian Orders and Decorations in Ottawa. The federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions independently recommend eligible and deserving members of the fire service to the Chancellery. Awards are made on behalf of the Sovereign by Instruments signed by the Governor General of Canada.
