Public Notice - High Heat Alert in Effect

Lincoln ON - (May 26, 2020) - Temperatures will soar again to near the thirty degree mark today and Wednesday. Indications suggest above normal temperatures near thirty again on Thursday. Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties will prevail each afternoon. Some relief is expected near the shorelines of the Great Lakes.

Extreme heat affects everyone, especially young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Review the following tips to stay cool and healthy:

  • Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place
  • Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle
  • Take breaks often if working or spending time outdoors

  • Check up on your neighbours who are elderly or may be vulnerable to developing heat related illnesses

Please note our facilities & cooling centres remain closed due to COVID-19. Visit the Facility and Service Impacts page.
