Public Service Announcement - Legislative Services available beginning May 25

Lincoln ON – (May 21, 2020) – Town of Lincoln Legislative Services is now offering services for Marriage Licencing, Commissioning of Oaths and Declarations and Civil Marriage Ceremonies.

The Town of Lincoln understands that this is a busy time of year especially for getting married. The Town is pleased to be able to offer services to help relieve any anxiety that couples are facing around their special day.

With the ongoing closure of Town administrative facilities (until at least June 30), marriage licences, commissioning of oaths and declarations and civil marriage ceremonies will now be available. . At this time, all requests received will be by appointment only, at the availability of the Clerk or designate. These services will be conducted in a different manner in order to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions and to ensure the health and safety of all parties involved.

While we can appreciate that you may feel anxious about these services when Town facilities remain closed, please be assured that we are committed to ensuring that you will receive these services in a safe manner. The health and safety of the public as well as staff is our utmost concern. To ensure safety and appropriate physical distancing, limited spaces are available on each appointment date. Services will not be delivered inside Town Hall but rather directly outside and instructions will be provided ahead of time when appointment is confirmed.

Marriage licences can be issued up to and including the date of your wedding; therefore, requests for appointments will be based on acceptance of eligibility criteria and all services will be dependent on screening questions prior to confirmation of appointment. While all requests for an appointment will be reviewed, a request either by phone (905) 563-2799 or by emailing does not guarantee an appointment; you will be contacted by staff to confirm your appointment date and time once your information has been reviewed and meets the eligibility criteria.
