Media Release - Ontario’s first AgriTech Hackathon is back at it again, this time virtually!

Lincoln, ON - (July 29, 2020) - Despite the ongoing concerns from COVID-19, the Town of Lincoln and Spark Lincoln have partnered up again to host the second annual AgriTech Hackathon. This year, the 2020 AgriTech Hackathon will be held entirely virtually through a variety of innovative and user-friendly online platforms.

What is an AgriTech Hackathon?  A hackathon is an event that fosters innovation and collaboration with the goal of expanding technology development. An AgriTech Hackathon is an event that identifies current challenges in the agricultural and value-added agricultural sectors for which tech solutions are proposed. Over a 48-hour period, multiple teams are asked to hack probable solutions to a series of given challenges for the agriculture, horticulture and eco-tourism sectors.

For those who wish to hack at the event, pre-register today to have the opportunity to be included in a pre-event mini-hack for additional prizes! Live registration for the 3-day online event opens on August 24, 2020, where you can register as teams of 4, or individually to be placed in a team of 4.

Two levels exist:

  • Level 1 - grades 7-12
  • Level 2 - post-secondary/professional

Not interested in hacking? There are many additional ways to get involved, including, but not limited to, sponsorships and mentorships.

With the event completely online, the 2020 AgriTech Hackathon has the potential to tap into national and international markets. Don’t miss your chance to be a part in one of Canada’s only AgriTech Hackathon this year.
