Statement from the Town of Lincoln:

Community mourns loss of local winemaker

Lincoln, ON - (February 5, 2022) - It is with profound sadness that we learned of the sudden and tragic passing of one of Lincoln’s most beloved winemakers and industry trailblazers - Paul Pender.

“On behalf of Town Council and Staff, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Paul’s family, friends and colleagues; as we know this heart-breaking loss will be deeply felt by many,” said Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton.

As the Director of Viticulture and Winemaking for local Tawse and Redstone Winery, Paul shared his passion for winemaking and the Ontario Wine Industry with every glass he crafted.

"Paul's enthusiasm for Lincoln and our local winemaking industry will be sorely missed. I join our winery partners in expressing my condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues," said Michael Kirkopoulos, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Lincoln.

“Paul’s impact and influence in the Ontario Grape and Wine Industry cannot be understated. He leaves behind an indelible legacy in Lincoln’s Grape and Wine Industry- a legacy that we know will be celebrated for decades to come,” said Paul Di Ianni, the Town's Director of Economic Development and Communications.

We encourage our local community to use this time of sadness to reflect and celebrate Paul’s life, and continue to support one another with love and kindness in the face of this heart-breaking loss.

Information regarding the funeral and memorial service has not yet been released. We kindly ask that the privacy of Paul’s family and loved ones be respected during this difficult time.
