Public Service Announcement: Face coverings no longer required in Town of Lincoln facilities starting March 21, 2022

Lincoln, ON – (March 18, 2022) – Following the guidance of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Town of Lincoln will no longer require visitors to wear face coverings when visiting Town of Lincoln facilities, effective Monday, March 21, 2022.

Here are some of the key changes coming into effect on March 21, as outlined in Statement from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health:

  • Removal of mandatory masking requirements for most settings except for select settings such as public transit, health care settings, long term care homes and high-risk congregate settings.
  • Those most vulnerable to the virus are encouraged to continue to wear masks. Face coverings will become optional as of March 21 and those who wish to continue with this precautionary measure may choose to do so.
  • Federal mask requirements remain in place for travel.

Niagara Region’s face covering by-law is also set to expire on March 21.

A reminder that visitors to Town of Lincoln facilities are no longer required to show Proof of Vaccination to access any programs or services or attend meetings.

Although further restrictions are being lifted, please keep in mind that the COVID-19 virus remains in circulation in Niagara and across the province. Please continue to be cautious and stay home if you are unwell.

We ask everyone to be kind and respectful to staff and other visitors when visiting Town facilities. Please recognize that individual comfort and circumstances will differ from community member to community member; please come from a place of compassion as to underlying circumstances that may reflect someone's choice to continue additional measures such as wearing a face covering or physical distancing.

The Province has indicated that there may be a need to resume mask wearing if a new variant of concern emerges or during the winter when these types of viruses emerge again. The Town will keep residents posted on any future announcements that would impact municipal facilities or service delivery.
