Public Service Announcement: Heat Alert Issued for Lincoln and the Niagara region June 15 Through June 16

 

June 15, 2022 – (Lincoln, ON) – Environment Canada has issued a High Heat Alert for Niagara Region, with hot and humid conditions forecasted for Wednesday, June 15, 2022, through Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Maximum daytime temperatures from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius are expected with humidex values near 40.

Environment Canada issues heat alerts when:

  • The humidex is 40°C or higher for two consecutive days
  • Daily temperatures are expected to reach 31°C or higher and overnight temperatures are at least 20°C or higher, for two consecutive days

Public Health identifies those at risk and precautions to stay healthy during extreme heat.

Pools

Allan F. Gretsinger outdoor pool opens for the season on Saturday, June 4.

Jordan Pool opens on Saturday, June 25.

These facilities offer FREE swims when a High Heat Alert has been activated.

Beach

Charles Daley Park (1969 North Service Rd., Jordan Station)

Splash Pads

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Jordan Lions Park Splash Pad | 2793 4th Avenue, Jordan
  • Angelina Prokich Park | 5080 St. George’s Drive, Beamsville
  • Hilary Bald Park Splash Pad | Garden Gate Terrace, Beamsville - Closed due to playground reconstruction

Fleming Centre

  • Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
    Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • (Some shady spots under the sails are available outside the Fleming Centre for those who wish to remain outdoors.)

Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre

  • Tuesday to Thursday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Lincoln Pelham Public Library (Fleming and Rittenhouse branches)

  • Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Friday 1- 5 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday - Closed
