The Town of Lincoln is seeking a talented Communications & Grant Writing Specialist to join the creative and dynamic Corporate Communications Team. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Communications, the Communications & Grant Writing Specialist is responsible for developing and supporting external and internal communications strategies, with the goals of providing clear and consistent communications, nurturing, and expanding relationships with the Town’s audiences, growing communications opportunities, and strengthening existing communications tools – both traditional and digital. In addition, the Communications & Grant Writing Specialist will assist in managing the creation, production, and distribution of digital and print products, including maintaining the Town’s website and public engagement platform, and implementing the corporate social media program. The Communications & Grant Writing Specialist will contribute to the development of high-quality communications products, ensuring tone and brand alignment.

This role will also collaborate with staff across the organization in writing and submitting grant proposals for federal and provincial government grants, as well as other agencies. 

The Successful Candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in communications, marketing, international relations/development, or a related field
  • 3-5 years experience as a Communications Assistant, Communications Specialist, or similar role 
  • Understanding of media relations and proficiency using digital media strategies including various social media platforms and experience with website editing (using Content Management Systems)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to elicit information and answer inquiries.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign) is an asset. 
  • Strong digital skills including knowledge of social media platforms and the social media landscape 
  • Experience in writing and submitting provincial and federal grants is considered an asset
  • Solid editing and researching skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and respond rapidly to new events and competing priorities
  • High level of attention to detail especially when reviewing documents
  • Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and easily adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy


The Town of Lincoln offers an attractive, competitive salary and a progressive hybrid work environment. The hourly range for this 12-month contract position (based on a 35-hour work week) is $31.35/hr - $36.67/hr, with the possibility of a contract extension.
