During Economic Development Week, ShopLincoln.ca is supporting local businesses
Initiative aims to assist local businesses during COVID-19 pandemic and beyond
Lincoln ON – (Tuesday, May 5, 2020) – The newly launched ShopLinlcoln.ca will help Lincoln’s businesses to continue providing their goods and services during COVID-19 restrictions.
The website provides the community with a simple, direct link to local businesses offering food delivery and takeout, e-commerce, gift cards and live streamed classes and events.
ShopLincoln.ca is a Town of Lincoln-led initiative, in partnership with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Bench Beamsville BIA, the Twenty Valley Tourism Association, and Ontario Craft Wineries. While the website is a Town response to the current situation, it will continue to operate post-pandemic as a way to help local businesses stay connected with their customers and the community.
“This initiative is a great way to mark Economic Development Week, May 4-9, which celebrates programs that ensure vibrant, sustainable growth to serve the long-term interest of our economy and businesses, our environment and our citizens,” says Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “We want local businesses to know we are here for them during this challenging time.”
The website features local restaurants, stores, wineries, craft breweries and distilleries, greenhouse growers, farms and farm stands and services, as well as businesses offering digital gift cards and live streaming for online classes or interactive events.
“A one-stop solution to connect Lincoln businesses and the community, Shop Lincoln showcases the amazing local businesses in our community and helps customers find whatever they need,” said Lincoln Deputy Mayor JD Pachereva.
Councillor Paul MacPherson, chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee, says the website is an opportunity to give back to local businesses. “Lincoln businesses have so much to offer, and this website gives us a chance to promote them. Our businesses always support us, by funding events or raising or donating funds for local charities. It's now our turn to support them,” he says.
To register, local businesses just need to fill out a simple form. So far, more than 125 businesses have signed up and more are being added every day.
“We are excited by the response from businesses. We want to provide an easy way for them to connect with customers, while helping the community find what they need,” says Economic Development Officer Paul Di Ianni. “ShopLincoln.ca will help businesses during the pandemic, while also improving their digital presence to help them connect with the community into the future.”
